Who Are You?

New age organizations are looking for decision makers rather than followers.  So, in order to excel  in their own filed of expertise, one need to know whether he is decision maker or follower  and need to understand the difference between the two. We have many management books that explain the qualities of a decision maker. In this blog i will try to explain how our indian mythology explains the qualities of a decision makers with the help of small story.

In vishnu temples garud is placed in front of vishnu. That place is been offered to garud as he deserves it. One day narad goes to vaikunt and asks lord vishnu that why garud statue is placed in front him(Vishnu)? why not his(Narad)? Saying that he is also loyal to him(Vishnu). Then vishnu listens a sound outside the gates of vaikunt.  He asks narad to ask what happened . Narad goes out running and finds that a lady got frightened by a snake and as a result she broke her pot which contains milk. Narad goes to vishnu and tell him that it is a lady , she broke her pot frightened by a snake. And then vishnu asks narad whether all the pots were broken? Narad again runs back to the lady and asks her and informs vishnu that only one pot was broken and the she has another pot of milk. Vishnu again asks narad , whether the lady is willing to sell the pot of milk? , narad again goes to her and ask her  and inform vishnu that she is willing to sell the pot of milk. Again vishnu asks narad , at what price she will sell the milk? Irritated narad go to the lady and asks her the price at which she is willing to sell it and informs vishnu that she is willing to sell it at the double price (Rs.200).

Then garud comes to vishnu and vishnu tells garud to enquire what happened, Garud goes to the lady and asks her all details and inform vishnu that one of the two pots were broken and now she is willing to sell the other pot of milk at double the price. I assured her that you will buy it. Vishnu looks at narad and narad understood the situation.

In this story both narad and garud were given the same task. But narad preferred being a follower and was reluctant to be a decision maker. On the other hand garud behaved like a decision maker, making his own decision that the situation is demanding. In short Narad did hard work and Garud did the work smartly, as he knew what is right and what is not.

New age organizations are looking constantly for Garud but not for Narad. So, You only decide whether you want to be narad or garud. But remember one thing, if you are acting like a decision maker, you are responsible for its consequences.
